This Bund 18 flagship is sleek, stylish, yet anticlimactic. We like the venue, and the wine list is fantastic, but sometimes Sens has the feel of a restaurant that lacks direction.
Although, that's not to say many dishes aren't good; certain things shine, particularly their treatment of fish. But the flavors seem just a little subtle (or perhaps
simplistic) for the price, and you're better off elsewhere on the Bund (or even across the river in Pudong) if you want to flex the expense account.
The Pourcel twins, who've opened several fine dining restaurants in Asia over the past year, make the occasional appearance here. But if you're expecting Micheliin caliber food, you might be better suited elsewhere in Shanghai.
