Our Review: Offering authentic Cantonese, Shanghainese and Sichuanese cuisines, Gui Hua Lou’s main dining area and five private dining rooms seat up to 160 guests.

Located on Level 1 of Tower 1 of the Pudong Shangri-La, this restaurant enjoys panoramic views of the scenic Huangpu River and the Bund waterfront. Guests will dine in a chic environment incorporating traditional Chinese elements with a contemporary twist, designed by Hong Kong-based CL3 Architects Limited.

The dominant colour palette is taken from the Chinese traditional red, blended with the contemporary black and white, offset with a touch of silvery grey and golden yellow.

The main feature in the general dining area is a massive red acrylic dragon scale patterned ceiling that serves to divide the space into two zones, as well as create a grand hallway to the private dining rooms situated at both ends. On either side of this visually arresting divide are the two main dining areas – one of which is with red upholstery booth seating on an elevated level, to ensure that guests enjoy an unobstructed view through the floor to ceiling bay window.
