Even though there are only two Greek restaurants in Shanghai, and one (Aegean) only recently opened its doors for business, it has already been dubbed the "best" Greek restaurant in town.
For those of you of Greek descent, we will offer the same cautionary note given to Shanghainese visitors from Mexico: although Aegean might be considered the best Greek restaurant in Shanghai, it still might be a reach from the food you are used to back home.
However, with that being said, the Greek owner/chef, Marios, is doing the best he can, given the lack of local ingredients used in Greek cooking. Grape leaves, which are near impossible to find in Shanghai, are replaced by cabbage leaves in Aegean's version of Dolmades. He also is making home-made yogurt for the Tzatziki.
