In our humble opinion, Hatsuhana is one of Shanghai's best "all you can eat" sushi joints in town. The only problem is the location - which for us in Pudong makes the trek out to Hongmei Lu a 40RMB taxi ride (one-way).
From the moment you enter, the smiling waiters and waitresses at the front door will greet you, and then escort you past the first floor sushi bar up to a table in one the second floor.dining rooms. If the place is really full, you might be seated at one of the usually empty tables on the first floor.
The sashimi quality is excellent and Hatsuhana serves up normal sized pieces of fish. We have experienced many sushi restaurants around town where the sashimi was either cut into small pieces (see J's Pudong) or too large (Sono).
Other recommended dishes are: sizzling beef, deep-fried pork cutlet, and pan-seared salmon sashimi (the only one we've seen in town).
All you can eat, including sake and, beer is 168 RMB. Reservations are recommended, but not required.
